St Martins Lodge

Creating luxury visitor accommodation, a stone’s throw from the historic site where Richard III’s remains were discovered in Leicesters City Centre.

CLIENT: Diocese of Leicester
ARCHITECT: Corporate Architecture
PROGRAMME: 41 weeks
VALUE: £1.8 million

Stepnell is proud to have completed St Martins Lodge, which has brought new life to two empty buildings in Leicester. This conversion project created a stylish boutique hotel, providing 28 elegant en-suite bedrooms.

This development has helped to meet the increasing demand for luxury overnight accommodation in Leicester since the discovery of King Richard III’s missing remains significantly boosted visitor numbers.

St Martins Lodge is located in the Greyfriars conservation area, very close to the site of the former medieval friary church where the king’s body was found in 2012.

Providing a unique place to stay at a prime location in the city centre, St Martins Lodge is now being used by tourists and corporate visitors. It also provides available accommodation for people using the nearby St Martins House conference centre.

St Martin’s Lodge has been recognised by Tripadvisor as a 2023 Travelers’ Choice for Traveler Reviews.
